Spring Racing Carnival 2009

Each year Marekai develops innovative menus for our race marquees. Often the menu is the envy of the neighbouring sites, and this year was no different as our site was picked out by Fifi Box and the channel 7 morning show.

Little Birdie - October 09 

As part of the Master Card concert series- Little Birdie recently played at the Old Melbourne Gaol.

Why the Old Melbourne Gaol? Well you all know that birds fly, and birds flye into trees. And where do you find trees? In the bush of cause. And, who was the most famous Bush Ranger - Ned Kelly, who spent his final days at the Old Melbourne Gaol.

The crowd soaked up an incredible performance that you will all get to see on Video Hits as part of the nation wide Mastercard campaign.

White Lion Bail Out 2009

Marekai Events is proud to be a major partner of the White Lion Bail Out for the past 3 years, donating all our services for the evening.

Whitelion opens doors to opportunities, relationships and community for young people involved in the Youth Justice System or at risk of involvement. This is achieved through role modelling, mentoring, employment and indigenous programs, outreach services, and through prevention programs run in rural and metropolitan communities.

The 2008 White Lion Bail Out raised over $500,000 and has won two awards for the Best Charitable Event. Marekai is proud to be a major sponsor of White Lion and has committed to the White Lion cause for many years to come.

Peter Stuyvesant Trade Event

The Peter Stuyvesant Trade Event transformed the Old Melbourne Gaol into a New York back alley. Entering via the rear entrance, guests fell onto the dirty street scape and wehere captivated by the absolute debuchary. Different cells of the Gaol displayed a series of outragous acts including; A barber trimming beards, Naked ladies being sketched, Mug shots being taken, Tattoo artists with real needles, Black Jack and Poker Tables. The guests consumed 42 Below cocktails, snacked on NY delights, and were entertained by Melbourne's Dirty Laundry.

Chicago - Melbourne Launch

550 guests were invited to the 'Cook County Jail' where they were welcomed by Sergeants at the entrance and directed into different areas of the Watch House. After drinks and canapes, they were led through to the Gaol cell block and seated as the muscials producer introduced Caroline O'Conner, Craig McClaughlan and Gina Reily as the stars of the 2009 Melbourne season.

Jasper Hill Wine Dinner

Marekai are proud to present a series of Wine Dinners at our Exclusive venue, the Wine House. The Jasper Hill Dinner was one of the best food and wine matched so far

Terrine of Prawn and Fresh Bamboo accopmanied by a ceviche of sardine fillet and avruga caviar served with Jasper Hill Riesling 2000 and Jasper Hill Riesling 2008. Magret of Duck Salad Korean BBQ style With Kimchi of the Gyeonggi-do region served with Occam's Razor Shiraz 2001, Jasper Hill Georgia's Paddock 1999 and Jasper Hill Emily's Paddock 1999.Poached loin of Lamb over a duo of ratatoulie served with Occam's Razor Shiraz 2005, Jasper Hill Georgia's Paddock 2005, Jasper Hill Emily's Paddock 2005.

Melbourne International Comedy Festival

Marekai's recently formed Event Production Team, produced six shows as part of the MICF 2009. Raw Comedy Winner Andy Rodger, Renowend Kiwi Ben Crellin, US Vet Blake Boles, Fomer Big Brother contestant Christina Davis, Fringe Festival regular Eric Hutton, and Aliesha McCormack of Rove, performed to rave reviews and full crowds over three weeks. Through out the festival the Old Magistrates Court and Former City Watch House were turned into UnderGround style Comedy Hubs, complete with full bar.
